Assess the platform well
Before the use of an aerial work platform, you need to evaluate whether there are any fall hazards. Assess the risks and objects properly before stepping on the platform. Evaluate whether a swing fall can happen prior to connecting yourself to an anchor point, and make proper risk evaluation.
Stand properly
You have to maintain proper posture as you work within the platform. Keep the upper body inside the platform. It is a good idea to use the shortest possible lanyard that still lets you finish the project. Check whether you can get an extendable work platform to work with.
Use proper devices
It is not permitted that you use ladders, guardrails or any other device that extends your position off the working platform. This is not allowed. You have to use only approved anchor points as you tie off. A few suspended platform manufacturer companies offer anchor points within aerial lift. Find out whether your aerial work platform manufacturer offers approved anchor points which can bear the impact of a possible fall. Make sure that you never exceed the rated capacity of the manufacturer for horizontal forces.
